monto Posted April 24, 2008 at 02:13 AM Report Posted April 24, 2008 at 02:13 AM There is no name that can be referred particularly as "Cantonese". Cantonese is a dialect of Chinese, as a branch to a river. Even the Cantonese people, when they pick the characters up for a name, they automatically return back to the main stream and make up a Chinese name. Quote

imron Posted April 24, 2008 at 08:08 AM Report Posted April 24, 2008 at 08:08 AM The characters wouldn't need to be different. The only thing different would be the pronunciation. Quote

Lu Posted April 26, 2008 at 10:04 AM Report Posted April 26, 2008 at 10:04 AM Perhaps you could pick one of the names suggested to you in the other thread, and ask for the Cantonese pronounciation/romanization. (And then hope that you will actually be able to pronounce it correctly.) Quote
skylee Posted April 26, 2008 at 12:47 PM Report Posted April 26, 2008 at 12:47 PM panda can you write it down in simple cantonese like wong fei hung "wong fei hung" is not simple cantonese. it is the romanisation of cantonese. If you want to write Cantonese you need Chinese characters. "wong fei hung", the famous kungfu master, is 黃飛鴻 in Chinese characters. Quote
