Are there any software that will display pinyin for texts?

A former classmate of mine told me that there are software out there that can display pinyin for chinese characters. Does anyone here know of such software? I think this is what I need to help me further advance my study of the language.

Yes, there are several annotation softwares that show pinyin and meaning of Chinese words. I often use the free DimSum tools.
