aboooot Posted May 7, 2008 at 07:34 AM Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 at 07:34 AM Dear friends, could you please help me to understand wheather I get this sentence right or not? this is the sentence: 合作过程中无论在文化沟通、思维方式、工作方法、管理模式等诸方面均有有益的经验和教训值得研究和总结。 in the process of collaboration not only are important the cultural communication, the way of thinking, the way of working and the management schemes but also the useful experience and learning that are worth to be studied and summarized. My problem is that I cannot understand to which verb 无论 is referred. Thank you in advance for your help, aboooot
Yang Rui Posted May 7, 2008 at 02:02 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 at 02:02 PM My rough translation would be this: "In the process of collaboration, there may arise all kinds of experiences and lessons that are worth examining, whether they involve cross-cultural communication, different ways of thinking, different methodologies or different management models." But it's a little hard without knowing the context whether these are things that "may arise", "have arisen" etc. I haven't done it word for word, so if it's a homework assignment you may not get full marks

monto Posted May 7, 2008 at 02:46 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 at 02:46 PM 合作过程中无论在文化沟通、思维方式、工作方法、管理模式等诸方面均有有益的经验和教训值得研究和总结。 Strictly say, it is a “病句”。It should be either

monto Posted May 8, 2008 at 01:44 AM Report Share Posted May 8, 2008 at 01:44 AM Strictly say, it is a “病句”。 Don't be too strict. Haha, It's not too strict, just as strict as should be. The sentence is acceptable neither in class nor in exams. The mistake is like using "either (neither)" without "or (nor)" in English. Such miatake is quite common even in native speeakers. I only point it out becase I think this forum an extenssion of classroom.

I only point it out becase I think this forum an extenssion of classroom. I'm afraid to disagree . I think the original and your version of it are both acceptable, and the difference between them is simply a matter of personal preference: 合作过程中无论在文化沟通、思维方式、工作方法、管理模式等诸方面均有有益的经验和教训值得研究和总结。 合作过程中, 无论在文化沟通、思维方式、工作方法、还是在管理模式等诸方面,均有有益的经验和教训值得研究和总结。
aboooot Posted May 8, 2008 at 03:45 PM Author Report Share Posted May 8, 2008 at 03:45 PM Dear friends, I have found another difficulty in my translation. The sentence is this: 由建筑的结构直接构成建筑独特的外观元素,是近年来国际建筑发展潮流中值得关注的重要特征,类似的手法我们还可在“水立方”(与国家体育场比邻的国家游泳中心)、中央电视台新址大楼等设计中看到:前者是由蜂窝状六面体结构单元被以不同角度切割后直接构成“水泡”外观,后者则是对应楼体结构受力分析的钢结构网格直接作为特殊的结构性表皮 the very last part where CCTV new building is described is not clear 后者则是对应楼体结构受力分析的钢结构网格直接作为特殊的结构性表皮 In particular I cannot inderstand these characters "受力分析" in this context Any tip? roddy Posted May 8, 2008 at 03:54 PM Report Share Posted May 8, 2008 at 03:54 PM Stress analysis? Not 100% sure, just a best guess. Have removed your other post, by the way - one post per question, thanks
monto Posted May 9, 2008 at 01:03 AM Report Share Posted May 9, 2008 at 01:03 AM I guess both "Stress analysis" and "load analysis" are OK here for “受力分析”。 对应楼体结构受力分析的钢结构网格 steel netting structure that correspond to the structral load analysis of the building
