Yao's agent: Yo! Yao! I got another commercial for you!

YAO: What doing?

Yao's agent: It's Gatorade, and you'll be joined by Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Lisa Leslie, and even Peyton Manning!

YAO: Man Ning? (Thinks to himself: It's a drug store in Hong Kong) ... Ah! "Can I write check?"

Yao's agent: No, this is for Gatorade.

YAO: I no drink Gatorade.

Yao's agent: Don't worry, you don't have to drink anything. You're going to stand in front of a garage and let a basketball hoop fall down on you...

YAO: (* :-? *) Where interpreter?

Yao's agent: ...and all you have to say this time is: 'Where are you going?'

YAO: Where going?

Yao's agent: Good enough! Forget the interpreter, let's go!

Yes, that was brilliant because he did not have to say anything. Now I just found out that Yao Ming is scheduled to do the obligatory celebrity appearance on The Simpsons:

BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhuanet) -- NBA star Yao Ming will lend his voice to the hit animated television show "The Simpsons" in an episode together with two other sports celebrities LeBron James and Michelle Kwan.

Yao Ming will hire the show's hero Homer Simpson to teach him victory dances, reported Saturday's CRI online.

Homer then organizes the Super Bowl halftime show, reminding the audience of a national scandal when Janet Jackson's breast was bared on live broadcast that sparked a crackdown on what officials termed "indecency."

The episode is to be broadcast after American football's Super Bowl Championship next February and will poke fun at America's obsession with broadcast indecency.

I can't wait to hear how much Yao Ming actually speaks! I guess he won't have to say a lot if his cartoon character does nothing but pull down Homer Simpson's pants in some kind of wardrobe malfunction.

Recent LA Times article about Yao Ming teaching his teammates a lesson

http://www.latimes.com/sports/olympics/la-sp-olyyao21aug21,1,5017777.story?coll=la-home-headlines

"Is Chinese basketball star Yao Ming acting like an ugly American?

That's what many of Yao's countrymen are wondering after the NBA All-Star demonstrated what was seen here as bad-boy behavior this week when the Chinese national basketball team stumbled during Olympic competition in Athens.

With his team getting routed, 83-58, by Spain on Sunday, the normally even-tempered Houston Rocket center yelled at his Olympic teammates, and even at Coach Del Harris, during a fourth-quarter timeout. In the locker room afterward, he reportedly chided his teammates and then told reporters that he had "lost much of my confidence" in the squad.

"I don't think some of my teammates cherish the honor to play for the country at the Olympic Games," he said, adding that he was thinking about retiring from a "hopeless" Chinese national team.

The outburst stunned fans and sports officials in a society that continues to uphold the Confucian values of respect for elders and working together as a group. Within hours, local newspapers said, the headquarters of the Chinese delegation to Athens issued a statement declaring that such "irresponsible talk and split-the-team behavior" would not be tolerated in the future....."
