holger Posted May 12, 2008 at 09:31 AM Report Share Posted May 12, 2008 at 09:31 AM Hello, I'm using winXP pro sp2 and the IME Chinesisch VR China QuanPin for simplified and the IME MS new Phonetic 2002a for traditional Characters. I'd like to know how to produce these Characters without having to c&p them each time: 『』「」《》 ○ These 《》 I found out in simplified IME can be typed with shift+; or shift+. I've been searching for this topic but due to the nature of these "keywords" without success. Thanks for advice. holger
889 Posted May 12, 2008 at 09:40 AM Report Share Posted May 12, 2008 at 09:40 AM Make sure you've got the Language Bar up there, then go all the way to the right and click the Options icon. Using MS Simplified Pinyin, go to Softkeyboard >> Punctuation Marks. Using Traditional Characters, check both Soft Keyboard and Symbol. In each case, a keyboard should appear on your screen with the special symbols.
imron Posted May 12, 2008 at 09:56 AM Report Share Posted May 12, 2008 at 09:56 AM First of all, I would suggest switching to a more modern IME, that allows you to type both simplified and traditional, such as Google's IME. Then, 《 and 》can be typed using the same keys as . 『 and 』can be typed with the same keys as { and } . You can also set it up to use the 标点符号 layout, which will show a soft-keyboard with all of these symbols on it.
adrianlondon Posted May 12, 2008 at 10:22 AM Report Share Posted May 12, 2008 at 10:22 AM Microsoft's IME also allows 繁體字 and 简体字.
ipsi() Posted May 13, 2008 at 08:45 AM Report Share Posted May 13, 2008 at 08:45 AM What I'd like to know is how to type them using SCIM...
imron Posted May 13, 2008 at 09:00 AM Report Share Posted May 13, 2008 at 09:00 AM I would have thought it to be quite similar. Make sure you've got full-width punctuation turned on, and then try experimenting by pressing all the various punctuation keys (including when combined with the shift key). ipsi() Posted May 13, 2008 at 09:05 AM Report Share Posted May 13, 2008 at 09:05 AM Let's see: -=[]、;‘’,。/——+{}|:“”《》?!@#¥%……&*() Hmm... Nope, not happening. I get 《》with shift + >, but not the others. Could be a font problem I suppose, but I'm more inclined to suspect SCIM. Especially as the characters in the subject display just fine... EDIT: Obviously I get the 。,、, but I was thinking more about the 『』「」
