ipsi() Posted August 7, 2008 at 05:44 AM Report Posted August 7, 2008 at 05:44 AM Actually, on that note I had a look at the carbon copy of the delivery information, and the Z was very faint, to the point where I can easily understand it being mistaken for an L... Quote
elina Posted August 8, 2008 at 02:28 AM Report Posted August 8, 2008 at 02:28 AM Like we attached the photo of the sender’s receipt to Ipsi() through email, we wrote the full name of New Zealand, don’t quite understand why FedEx needs to change it into the abbreviative name of NZ. Quote
ipsi() Posted August 12, 2008 at 05:42 AM Report Posted August 12, 2008 at 05:42 AM I'm not entirely sure either. Maybe that's just how they've got their computer system set up to make keying easier? Anyway, another update: The other package Elina sent out arrived today. That only took like 10 weeks to arrive. Not sure what I'm going to do with them. Probably donate them to the University Language Learning Centre or something. Quote
elina Posted August 12, 2008 at 10:21 AM Report Posted August 12, 2008 at 10:21 AM FedEx company has its own delivery teams in different countries, which can almost efficiently make sure to send the packages on time, so that they have shipping time limit and would give some compensation in case exceeding the time limit, if there’s no 清关延误/Customs Clearance Delay. It’s said if a package is lost finally, China Post will pay for the loss. But if the arriving time of a package is just more than the time limit, China Post would not give the compensation, since there’re some uncertainties (for example: postmen strike, etc. ) and foreign postal organizations are also involved in the whole delivery process. Hence China Post would not take the responsibility for the package delay. From May 27 till today, it takes 11 weeks for Ipsi()’s first package sent by seamail to get to the destination, which is almost the time limit for a package to USA or Europe. And Atitarev also wrote to us informing he got his first package sent by SAL. I think we will change the shipping time limit longer on our site. Regarding the extra free books, since the postage is more expensive than the books price, personally I think ideally they would be given to someone who also could write some book’s review on this forum. Failing that, just give them to someone who need them, it’s nice to make some contribution to the 对外汉语教学事业. Quote

roddy Posted August 15, 2008 at 10:12 AM Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 at 10:12 AM Any chance of a quick check-in from everyone on the list - would be good to know if the books have / haven't turned up, and any rough ETAs on reviews would be nice. Quote
Shadowdh Posted August 15, 2008 at 12:20 PM Report Posted August 15, 2008 at 12:20 PM I am on the list, received and review for one is almost done... will post that mid next week. The second wont be too long after that... Quote
elina Posted August 17, 2008 at 05:27 AM Report Posted August 17, 2008 at 05:27 AM CDN_in_bj received the book on May 28 (No. 57 post here) Ipsi() wrote a quick review for one of the two books on the first day he received them. The following people have received their free books early or late in June, according to their PM/emails to me, I just forgot to respectively inform to Roddy (maybe next time, it’s better to directly post the receiving messages on this forums): Stephanhodges Scoobyqueen: she said only one free book of NPCR: New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook (1) without the CD and workbook, the review would be a little incompletely, then she purchased: 4 CDs: New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook (1), New Practical Chinese Reader Workbook (1), 2 CDs: New Practical Chinese Reader Workbook (1). And when her friend come to Beijing, we delivered the products to her on July 18. Simonlaing Newyorkeric Quote

roddy Posted September 1, 2008 at 05:15 PM Author Report Posted September 1, 2008 at 05:15 PM Ok, so of 13 recipients all have successfully got their books one way or another, and four have written something up. Quote
xianu Posted September 8, 2008 at 11:55 PM Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 11:55 PM Where again are we posting reviews? I haven't visited this site in a while and I feel like I missed something. I have a "first impressions" of one of the books, which I am using for the 3rd year Chinese class in the US. I want to add to my first impressions with the students' reactions to the texts, as well as how usable it was in the class. Quote
imron Posted September 9, 2008 at 02:27 AM Report Posted September 9, 2008 at 02:27 AM Your best option is probably to create a new thread in the Resources and General Study Issues sub-forum. Quote
roddy Posted September 9, 2008 at 07:25 AM Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 at 07:25 AM Yep, that would be fine. Didn't add you to the above list as I'd forgotten you'd got books as part of this. Quote
cdn_in_bj Posted September 23, 2008 at 06:27 AM Report Posted September 23, 2008 at 06:27 AM I've way neglected this... tje plan is to sit down and study over the 10/1 holidays. I'm not sure if I'll have a full review, but at the very least I'll have a "first impressions" posted. Quote

newyorkeric Posted October 16, 2008 at 09:31 AM Report Posted October 16, 2008 at 09:31 AM Sorry for being delinquint. Life got in the way (I'm defending my dissertation in a month and a half). I have started using the book, but I don't think I am ready yet to write a review. But I will write one as soon as I can. Quote
