bicycles in China

This article (link below) comes from the Taiwan News. It discusses how bicycles are being marginalised in Shanghai (and I am sure it is not just happening in Shanghai). It is sad and unfortunate really. It is obvious China's city planners are enamoured with motor cars. It is a pity they don't take a trip to to Amsterdam or Copenhagen to see that bicycles can be a major form of transport in a modern city.

But ironically all the new bicycles that you can find displayed in the bike shop nowadays, ranging from top of the line model to the cheapest kind, are all either made in China or Taiwan.
