我下了课就看了一部电影: grammar correct?

我下了课就看了一部电影.

Is the grammar of the above sentence correct? I just want to double-check my present understanding, which tells me that it is not. The reason is that when you have a sequence of verbs like this, in which one directly follows the other and you have a referential adverb like 就, the second verb, i.e. 看 cannot be followed by 了.

Thus it should be rephrased as

我下了课就看电影了 or something similar.

Is this correct? Native speakers?

Both are correct. Emphasis is slightly different/not completely clear

1st - after class you only watched a movie, but also could mean after class you watched a movie

2nd - can mean the first meaning but also can mean that you watched a movie right after you got out of class.

But both are a little ambiguous.

These two will emphasize the situations respectively.

1. 我下了课之后就只看了一部电影。 (only watched a movie)

2. 我一下课就去看(一部)电影了。(stresses order)

and you mixed up wo and ta of course

下了班就写

yields 121 results

下了班就写了

Consider

“下了班就去了“ （商店、他的家、火车站、……） (4,500 google hits)

However, I think it sounds a bit weird and would probably say

“下班就去了” （商店、他的家、火车站、……）(13,500 google hits)

Since 去 is completed (or occurred in the past), and 下班 occurred even before that, it is kind of implied that it must be completed as well, rendering the 了 on 下 somewhat redundant unless you really want to make some kind of emphasis.

Be careful: the search result for “下了班就去了“ is misleading in two ways. First, if you click to the end, you'll see that there aren't actually that many unique results. At the time of writing there are only 66. Second, many of the results do not have an object after the 了。 In these cases the le is a sentence-final a.k.a. modal le, which is fine. I'm not disputing that use.

The english translation would simply be: after class I watched a movie.

I'm starting to be convinced that this is in fact perfectly fine, but I'd still like to get the opinion of a native speaker just to be absolutely sure.

After class I watched a movie. 下課後我(去)看了部電影.

我下了課就看了一部電影 may appear in the following context:

A: 昨天下課後真無聊, 都不曉得能幹麽!

B: 怎麼會呢?! 我下了課就看了一部電影, 時間好過的很!

我下了課就看電影去了.

A: 你下課怎麼一溜煙就不見了?! 做什麼去了?

B: 我趕時間啊! 我下了課就看電影去了.

下了班就寫/做--indicating something hasn't been dealt with and it will be dealt with after knock-off.

A: 喂! 這報告你什麼時候寫/做啊?!

B: 好啦好啦! 下了班就寫/做.

下了班就寫(做) 了--indicating something has already been dealt with after knock-off.

A: 喂! 這報告你什麼時候寫/做的啊?!

B: 早就寫/做好了! 下了班就寫/做了!

By the way, when googling for something which yields no results, it does not mean that the thing is nonexistent. It only implies that something is not posted on the internet.
