yannc Posted May 26, 2008 at 06:24 AM Report Posted May 26, 2008 at 06:24 AM Hi I use vista ultimate and tried to install zdt. The hard disk is divided in two parts, OS and Datas. The main user folder and the program files are located in each part. First install, zdt run normaly but there was a trouble with the opening and managing of flashcards (maybe database ?). So i deinstall and reinstall the software.Just after, zdt no longer load, only the first logo appears and something kill the process. I tried : - remove java6 and reinstall java5 from the zdt link... no effect - deinstall zdt and remove all the zdt folder and links... no effect - does zdt0.8 run with java6 ? - can i change config files to indicate the user path ? - any other solution ???????? thanks. drahnier Posted May 26, 2008 at 07:46 AM Report Posted May 26, 2008 at 07:46 AM I can assure you that both zdt 7 and zdt 8 mostly works under Vista Business 32bit and Java runtime 6.6. I have always problems with zdt when I restart my computer without prior exiting the app (searching the dictionaries will no longer work), but I can recover full functionality without reinstalling the app if I delete all files in the Userszdt folder, exept the user.script file (which is your current database file), although program specific settings, such as font types, window size, aso. are lost. bogleg Posted May 26, 2008 at 11:44 PM Report Posted May 26, 2008 at 11:44 PM Hi yannc, Send an email to me at fongcn at gmail dot com and I'll try to walk you through your issues. I personally have not tested ZDT with Java 6, but if drahnier says it works, then I believe him. =) The main reason I haven't moved to it yet is that I've heard there are some issues with OS X and Java 6. WangYuHong Posted June 19, 2008 at 02:05 AM Report Posted June 19, 2008 at 02:05 AM I had issues on Vista too, but I got it working somehow... (sorry, I don't remember the details ) You might want to look at user permissions (UAC or User Access Control) when it installed on my system, it created the database file (/user/jon/local settings/etc I think) but then couldn't write to it afterwards. Since it was a malformed dictionary file, I couldn't do anything with the program afterwards! Anyway, might want to take a look at that at least... I think for my problem, I fixed it by installing it using admin privileges, and then everytime afterwards it just works fine Quote
