I brought my Chinese bicycle back to Europe..

Don't worry, most of those "antiques" were probably made in last couple of years/months anyway

What I'm thinking, too. Otherwise, all the antiques markets would be out of business. Though I guess their continuance isn't proof that it's all "antiques" either :twisted:

All a bit strange. But hey, it's China... (and in South America, the situation would have been similar).

And now I am worried about liability in case someone has an accident with it as the brakes dont work properly. Apparently, I am liable even if someone stole it. German law

Because I left it unlocked. In Germany you can also be fined if you leave valuables in view in your car. It is seen as encouraging...

Apart from Berlin, I don't think bikes are really stolen much in Germany. More like they're "borrowed" by people who don't want to walk home after the bar shuts.

You'll no doubt find some drunk, mullet wearing German teenager lying face down with a bike on top of him, with a huge hangover, wondering where he is and how he got there.
