My native speaker said it is not correct to say

Why?

I found this sentence online:

你好!我是昨天缴费的,为什么到现在还是显示的"未缴费"?

我是昨天缴费的 is a very similar structure to 我是昨天说话的...

This structure can be adapted to just about anything in my experience. Your sentence could be the answer to: 你(是)什么时候说得?like when arguing about whether or not you actually said something.

Maybe your friend just couldn't imagine a context for the sentence.

It's not wrong grammatically, but it's hard to think of a context in which that would be said, because you 天天都说话, it makes little sense to stress that it was yesterday that you spoke words.

How bout this context Quest?

The original is 说话 though, not just 说. Like Quest says, grammatically it's ok and you could perhaps come up with a context in where you might use it (monks who've taken a vow of silence discussing who was last tempted to speak, perhaps), but it's going to be a bit convoluted. It's not a problem with 是.....的 as such, it's just an odd thing to say.

Yes, that makes a big difference, and I'd have to agree. It's interesting how I missed the 话 character. I guess because it is odd here.

So, Freefall, my comments are irrelevant.

Is this a 是。。。的 structure? What is shi doing here? Is it possible to omit shi?

it's not wrong just because we dont say it that way.

if i say 我是昨天说话的 it will make people think 我今天不说话

because 说话 here becames one ability

so instead of it we say 我昨天说的 or 我上次说的
