looking for Beijing August Accomodation

Hi all

I'm coming to Beijing on August 8th and will be staying for one year. I plan to find some temporary accomodation for myself and 3 friends for around 2 weeks to a month while i find a more permanent place to live, and was wondering if anybody had a place to rent or knew of good places to find these. I know the prices of accomodation have gone up because of the Olympics so any suggestion of how to spend a minimum would be appreciated! We dont mind squeezing in to beds an sleeping on sofas etc!

What are you actually going to be doing here, and where in the city will you be?

Yeah it aint going to be easy, but i'm sure gonna try!

Myself and a friend are going to be there for a year, but we don't want to commit to a year without seeing a place so the plan is to find something temporary albeit overpriced for the olympic month and during that time search for a permanent place. therefore, location is not important. there are 4 of us going to be there at that time and the plan is to just pile in somewhere, even if it is just a one bedroom place.

if anyone had already found a place for august or knows any decent websites in English I'd really appreciate your advice. Also, i plan to find this palce on the internet so if anyone has any ideas on how to secure an apartment without just sending money to a complete stranger that would be great! Is there any service like paypal that would be safe... or would paypal work. i should look into that!

The way things are going now, you might have to rent a hotel for the duration, to qualify for a visa. (If there is any rooms available still)
