GillouStyle Posted June 11, 2008 at 08:56 PM Report Posted June 11, 2008 at 08:56 PM Hello I have tried sending text messages in Chinese, using a T-Mobile month-to-month plan and ATT's pre-paid plan, and they don't get sent. In fact, my phone considers it was sent, but the person I am sending to ( or receiving from) doesn't see any incoming messages on his phone. This is on the US network.. It worked well in France with Orange and Virgin Mobile. What did you guys living in the US have to do to be able to send chinese text messages (either within the states or internationally)? I am desperate, no hold of my girlfriend this way ~ Thank you so much for your help Gilles Quote
stephanhodges Posted June 12, 2008 at 10:31 AM Report Posted June 12, 2008 at 10:31 AM An alternate is to us an internet service for sending SMS messages. For example, I can send messages to people in China with Skype. Right now I actually am IN China, so I can't verify that it works today, but it did work several months ago. It needs a paid account, but it's cheap. There are also a number of other internet SMS services, some of which are free, I believe. However, I haven't used them. Of course, email sometimes works too. Many phones can pick up emails. Quote
GillouStyle Posted June 12, 2008 at 12:42 PM Author Report Posted June 12, 2008 at 12:42 PM hi Stephan. I agree there are other ways to send text messages. but these are not as convenient as using your phone. Also, will Skype send me the text messages to my Phone when I receive a reply, or will it be only in the Skype window? And in case Skype sends it to my phone, it is also not 100% sure whether this message will be blocked by ATT again..-or T-Mobile. People in the US with iPhone plans, have they been able to do so?
