Can it also be translated as "talking nonsense" or "argument incoherent, have holes in it"? Is this more of a written expression or if can also be used in normal conversation? I like its literal translation: 'strong words rob sense' and that is what made me think whether the expression had a more collogual and colourful use, rather than in a court room.
