sfr@rcn.com Posted June 8, 2004 at 08:14 PM Report Posted June 8, 2004 at 08:14 PM I"ve searched in vain through many, many pages of fora to try to find the topic and person who suggested A Practical Chinese Grammar (by Hung-nin Samuel Cheung et al) and Chinese: A Comprehensive Grammar (by Yip Po-Ching and Don Rimmington). Cant find the topic, but, whoever you are, thank you, thank you. I have a bunch of grammars, mainly because none of them ever answered more than one out of, say, three of my questions on any given day. But I've stopped searching. I don't think I'd be satisfied with just one of these two, but together, they provide this intermediate student with answers--as long as I know what questions to ask. And both of them have *good* dictionaries, miracle of miracles. Thanks, Sandra[/i] Quote

sfr@rcn.com Posted June 15, 2004 at 05:20 PM Author Report Posted June 15, 2004 at 05:20 PM You're right. This is a special place for students of Chinese language and culture. I hope it's as helpful to all those students of English and western culture too. Also, I just reread my first post in this topic. I meant to say good indices, not good dictionaries. Indices are rare in grammar books. Thanks again, Sandra Quote
