eddy83 Posted June 20, 2008 at 07:58 AM Report Posted June 20, 2008 at 07:58 AM talk about rudeness. many of the posts regarding BLCU proved to be true. i just called them today to see if i could still apply for the fall semester Advanced Intensive Training (30 hours/week) Program... i guess i'll just give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they're grouchy since they must get hundreds of calls a day. my knowledge of chinese is, well, zero. either way, since it seems to be the only program in china that offers classes 30 hours a week i guess i'll just have to suck it up and go there. i figured if i go there, not hang out with english speakers, get a chinese girlfriend, and study hard i should accomplish much. apparently this program covers one-year's material in one semester. my plan is to finish this course and then transfer to Peking University's (Beida?) language program since PKU's program does not accept beginners. any suggestions? would be much appreciated. eddie9684 Posted July 2, 2008 at 12:34 PM Report Posted July 2, 2008 at 12:34 PM just apply 2 months at least before the class starts, ignore the deadline application date for the term cuz its not true, i applied once before that deadline and they still denied me.. for example, now that im here, i wanted to apply to aug04 one, deadline application is june 30, and the lady there was still tellin me that she is not sure if ur gonna b accepted for that, so i applied for sept year and aug, it was still 300rmb anyways, now to wait if im accepted.. and about the classes, since ur knowledge is 0, ur probably gonna be placed with many ppl like you... u just have to choose if keep practicing or slack, english speakers are everywhere amongst students, but amongst others dont even expect it... they even speak in chinese to foreigners.. kaming Posted July 3, 2008 at 12:10 AM Report Posted July 3, 2008 at 12:10 AM They were okay on the phone to me. The guy told me that the intensive programs and the one year long program were different. Unless he meant that one was longer and one was shorter.. ^^; I was a little bit unsure if it's miscommunication or not. And he told me not to worry about there being no space, since I asked if it was too late to apply (for Fall). Quote
