stoney Posted June 21, 2008 at 02:11 PM Report Posted June 21, 2008 at 02:11 PM when I launch ZDT it takes about 10 seconds to start. Much longer than any other apps. But this is such a great program that I just put up with it. Is this a common issue? Any suggestions how to speed this up? Quote
drahnier Posted June 26, 2008 at 02:56 PM Report Posted June 26, 2008 at 02:56 PM It's that slow on my computer, too. Probably because of the Eclipse toolkit which is used by zdt and it's dependency on a Java. These components take a lot of time to start up and initialize. Quote
Luobot Posted June 26, 2008 at 03:36 PM Report Posted June 26, 2008 at 03:36 PM On my notebook computer, ZDT version 0.8.0 (pre-alpha sandbox build out) also takes 10 seconds on the system clock to load, but as you said, once it's up, it's worth it. I haven't done any testing, but if you've installed some optional components, then you might try removing them and seeing if ZDT runs any faster. For example, you can live without the optional adso dictionary and the optional TTS voices. CEDICT runs efficiently and Version 8 will allow you to link to natural voice recordings. Quote
