Don_Horhe Posted June 26, 2008 at 10:23 PM Report Posted June 26, 2008 at 10:23 PM 爱活学习 What does 爱活 mean? I saw this in a picture of a tattoo on another forum. Quote
cherrytea Posted June 27, 2008 at 05:33 AM Report Posted June 27, 2008 at 05:33 AM Don, I think maybe it's a wrong phrase, for I have never seen such words before Quote
imron Posted June 27, 2008 at 08:00 AM Report Posted June 27, 2008 at 08:00 AM Haha, wouldn't be the first time someone got some meaningless phrase tattooed in Chinese. Quote
Don_Horhe Posted June 27, 2008 at 10:36 AM Author Report Posted June 27, 2008 at 10:36 AM Yeah, I though that too and I told the guy I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up meaning nothing, although Google turns up quite a few results of 爱活. I forgot to mention that he asked his question in the Japanese section, not the Chinese (it's a university forum), but I don't think this phrase is in Japanese. Quote
imron Posted June 27, 2008 at 12:35 PM Report Posted June 27, 2008 at 12:35 PM Yeah, but if you actually look at the results google returns, you'll see they're all things like: 为爱活下去, or similar, where there is a split between 爱 and 活, and they're not really part of the same word. Quote
Don_Horhe Posted June 27, 2008 at 12:45 PM Author Report Posted June 27, 2008 at 12:45 PM One of the other replies said that it was in Japanese and interprets it as "sex instructor", saying that in Japanese 爱活 "aikatsu" means "making love" and 学习 "gakushuu" has the same meaning in Chinese. Even if this is correct, which I personally doubt, it'd still be a stupid tattoo, like that guy who tattooed 糖醋肉 in the link you gave earlier. Quote
HashiriKata Posted June 27, 2008 at 01:46 PM Report Posted June 27, 2008 at 01:46 PM in Japanese 爱活 "aikatsu" means "making love"I don't think so. And there's no such thing as "爱活学习" in Japanese, in this form in any case. Quote
ABCinChina Posted August 17, 2008 at 01:18 AM Report Posted August 17, 2008 at 01:18 AM I've figured it out! 爱活学习 means "love to live and learn". Or a comparable English phrase could be "work hard, play hard". Quote
creamyhorror Posted August 19, 2008 at 03:45 PM Report Posted August 19, 2008 at 03:45 PM I've figured it out! 爱活学习 means "love to live and learn". I'm not sure if you're serious, but if you are, that's definitely not right. You could interpret it as "the study of loving life" or "learning to love life", but it's still a stretch and unnatural-sounding. Quote
renzhe Posted August 19, 2008 at 04:25 PM Report Posted August 19, 2008 at 04:25 PM Could it be 爱好学习, where 好 is misspelt like 浩? Nevermind, it's 活... Quote
