AlexBrit Posted July 1, 2008 at 08:03 PM Report Posted July 1, 2008 at 08:03 PM Dear all, some brill info on this site, thanks all. Our situation, advice needed. I will be studying at BNU on a programme supported by CSC Scholarship. Therefore have F visa. My wife will travel with me and has an L tourist visa. Can someone tell me, can she work, e.g. teach English while I am studying for a month just before the Olympics? I realise people of different backgrounds and experiences may provide different answers to this, what we need is a factual answer, please. Alex Ferraby Quote
adrianlondon Posted July 1, 2008 at 09:13 PM Report Posted July 1, 2008 at 09:13 PM You're only studying for one month? I'm surprised you got an F-visa (i.e. I'm surprised BNU bothered with the paperwork) instead of a tourist one. Is your wife allowed to work? No. Will anyone know that she taught some English for a bit of cash for 3 or 4 weeks? No. Quote
nomad Posted July 2, 2008 at 05:33 AM Report Posted July 2, 2008 at 05:33 AM Most of the Chinese students on the BNU campus will either be home or involved with the Olympics, so it might be hard for her to pick up some teaching work around campus. The English Depart (building 4, room 411/412) closes July 5th, but there might be some people around that could help her out. They were looking for native speakers to do audio recordings over the summer. Good luck Quote
