harley2g Posted July 4, 2008 at 10:31 PM Report Posted July 4, 2008 at 10:31 PM Hello, I am a new user to ZDT, so I am still learning a lot about how to best use this program. Thank you for developing and keeping it opensource. I would like to use ZDT to help with my pronunciations, as I understand there are sound plugins that help to accomplish this and when they work you can prss F3 to hear the voice. Am I correct? Well I downloaded the files from here: http://zdt.sourceforge.net/main/sound_plugin/ all of them i should not and placed them in my applicationszdtplugins folder, restarted and hmm nothing so here I am... Thank you in advance for any help and support. -h ps if you have any other suggestions as I am a beginer in both Chinese and ZDT please do pass them along. Quote
jbradfor Posted July 6, 2008 at 04:18 AM Report Posted July 6, 2008 at 04:18 AM After you restart, don't forget to go to Window -> Preference -> Sound then assign the sounds to the keys to enable. Quote
harley2g Posted July 7, 2008 at 09:46 PM Author Report Posted July 7, 2008 at 09:46 PM Thanks for the reply and help, When I go into the preferences > sound the 2 drop down menus are blank and I am unable to change them. so i suspect that the plugins is not properly installed.... Any ideas what to do next? Thanks! h Quote
jbradfor Posted July 8, 2008 at 02:00 PM Report Posted July 8, 2008 at 02:00 PM Humm, it does seem improperly installed.... When you d/l the sound files, they should be a single file with a .jar extension. One user (over at http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/15138-zdt-sound-plugin-problem) reported that it got d/l as a zip file. Is this the case for you? Quote
harley2g Posted July 8, 2008 at 03:38 PM Author Report Posted July 8, 2008 at 03:38 PM Yeah, i think that is the culpriate, i don't have the JAR only the mp3 files. I tried to get the zip/jar files but the page won't load, had a similar problem if possible would you be willing to e-mail it to me? or host on another site? Thanks, h Quote
jbradfor Posted July 9, 2008 at 02:25 PM Report Posted July 9, 2008 at 02:25 PM Huh? .mp3 files? I'm confused. Oh. I think I may see the problem. Are you d/l the sample .mp3 files from http://zdt.sourceforge.net/main/sound_plugin/ ? That's not what you want to do. What you want to do is on that page, towards the bottom, there is a link called "direct link" that will take you to http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=133341&package_id=178487 . Once there, d/l the two .jar files net.sourceforge.zdt.sound.roddy_0.1.0.jar and net.sourceforge.zdt.sound.adso_0.3.0.jar, place them as-is into your ZDT_DIR/plugins directory, restart ZDT, then go to Window -> Preference -> Sound to assign the sounds to the keys to enable. Here are the direct links to the two sound files http://downloads.sourceforge.net/zdt/net.sourceforge.zdt.sound.roddy_0.1.0.jar?modtime=1184773334&big_mirror=0 http://downloads.sourceforge.net/zdt/net.sourceforge.zdt.sound.adso_0.3.0.jar?modtime=1184773201&big_mirror=0 Quote

harley2g Posted July 10, 2008 at 12:39 PM Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 at 12:39 PM Thanks for the e-mail got the JAR files. I put them into the plugins folder. Still not working.. Looking in the help i saw it read, "Some users have reported some issues with installed plugins not being loaded. If this occurs to you, try the following. First, open up the ZDT and go to Help -> About ZDT and click on the Plug-in Details button. Look at the list of plugins to see if the plugin you just tried to install is listed. If not, then you're probably experiencing a caching issue. Shutdown the ZDT and go into your ZDT install directory. First, delete the folder workspace. Then go into the folder called configuration and delete all the folders inside that directory. Don't touch config.ini. Restart the ZDT and verify that the plugin has been loaded. " I looked and looked but did not find a Workspace folder to delete.. When i look in the plugin list the 2 new ones are not showing up. I tried to delete the files in the configuration minus config.ini but had no success.. Thanks! h Quote
