I came over this in an article I'm reading today about the Lin residence in Wufeng.

他們要面對的不僅是龐大經費著落 "They were not only faced with ensuring funding for the massive expenses"

I looked it up in Wenlin and found a pretty extensive entry with three different pronunciations and a variety of different meanings.

著落[着-] ¹zhuóluò n. ①whereabouts ②result; outcome | Nà jiàn shì® yǒu ∼le ma? Have you got any result of that matter? ③assured source | Nàbǐ jīngfèi hái méi ∼. We still don't know where the money's coming from. ◆v. fall to sb.; rest with sb.

著落[着-] zháoluò n. solution (for a difficulty)

著落[着-] zháolào* n. 〈coll.〉 ①way out of difficulties; refuge ②hope; prospects; expectations | Zhè ²jiàn ²shì® yǒu ∼ le. There is hope in this matter. ③assurance; feeling of security

Could someone explain me how the various forms of this word are used?

着落

This usual use in Chinese. The pronunciation is “zhuóluò”, no other pronunciation.

It means

1)[whereabouts]∶事情有归宿、有结果

For example: 丢失的行李总算有着落了。 The lost baggage had found finally.

2)[assured source]∶依托;靠头;指靠

For example: 这笔经费还没有着落。This fee will be charged from where is not clear.
