Socks Posted July 15, 2008 at 02:24 AM Report Posted July 15, 2008 at 02:24 AM Does anyone know where/how I can find a reliable personal assistant to run an errand for me? I only need them for one day to go to the embassy for me and get pages added to my passport. I live too far from the embassy to go myself and would have to EMS the passport to them and have them EMS it back to me. How much is this going to cost me? Thanks for the help! Quote

BrandeX Posted July 15, 2008 at 07:22 AM Report Posted July 15, 2008 at 07:22 AM The OP is referring to how much it would cost him to get someone else to do it for him, not the cost of EMS'ing to the consulate/embassy. You can't EMS it to them directly anyways, YOU, or YOUR REPRESENTATIVE must go in person to get the extra pages. Adding Extra Pages to Your Passport: 1. Make an appointment. 2. Submit your current passport 3. Submit form DS-4085 4. If you cannot appear in person, you may also authorize someone else to add pages to your adult passport on your behalf. You must provide the person you designate a signed letter authorizing them to add pages to your passport on your behalf. If you choose to designate someone to add pages for you, you will also have to complete and sign the DS-4085 beforehand and have the designee bring it with them to the Consulate. NOTE: There is no fee for adding pages to US passports, but expect to wait about one hour after submitting the application for the pages to be added. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/adding_pages.html So to answer his question... hard to say haha. I charge 150/rmb an hour for "work" here in China, so maybe you'd have a similar experience paying someone else to wait in the embassy to do it for you. Quote
roddy Posted July 15, 2008 at 09:11 AM Report Posted July 15, 2008 at 09:11 AM Might be worth looking for a visa agency that handles stuff for Chinese people? They'll be going to the embassy every day, after all. Or one catering to foreigners might be easier to deal with, although they presumably don't go to foreign embassies. Personally I wouldn't EMS my passport to some random person I found on the Internet. I'd feel slightly safer sending it to a random company . . . Quote

Socks Posted July 15, 2008 at 09:59 AM Author Report Posted July 15, 2008 at 09:59 AM Thanks for the help. I contacted a few of the visa agencies that handle foreigner's visas, but I didn't even think to contact those that handle US visas for Chinese people... Thanks a lot for the tip. If anyone knows a company off the top of their head it would save me a lot of leg work/worries! Thanks again! Quote
