Hero Doug Posted July 18, 2008 at 07:42 AM Report Posted July 18, 2008 at 07:42 AM Does anyone know where I can buy foreign food in bulk? I'd like to work with a distributor in the south of China (where I live), who has a site I can browse or a flyer they can mail to me. This company needs to be a distributor and not a Wal-mart or similar store, the product will be for resale. Thanks for any help. Quote
roddy Posted July 18, 2008 at 08:30 AM Report Posted July 18, 2008 at 08:30 AM Any imported food should have a label on it with the distributor / importer's details on. I know it's not exactly what you were looking for, but might be a start? Quote

zozzen Posted July 20, 2008 at 07:47 AM Report Posted July 20, 2008 at 07:47 AM the best site to go is taobao.com (under alibaba group) and it has become the most important source of bulk purchase for many cafes and western style restaurants in china. Be careful to compare the prices, some distributors are actually amateurs who tried to re-sell items they bought in a travel trip, their price could be even more expensive than a supermarket. Try to look for a seller who have over 1000 stars, which means they know better about the rules in wholesales market. Also try to check if your city has the German chain store Metro. That's so far the best western food suppliers in China. Price is expensive compared to local food, but it's acceptable. Quote
Hero Doug Posted July 21, 2008 at 01:35 AM Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 at 01:35 AM Thanks for the link to taobao, I don't have time to check it out right now, but I will, it sounds like it'll be an excellent source. The city does have a Metro, but I've been there (Used to do most of my shopping there), and I have to say their prices are roughly the same as Wal-Mart or any other retailer, plus I'm looking for some food they may not have like Taco Kits.
