juggaloskater Posted July 18, 2008 at 10:11 PM Report Posted July 18, 2008 at 10:11 PM Hello, I'm currently a Sophmore in college in the U.S. I studied Chinese in Shanghai for a year and a half before I started college, and now I feel like my level in Chinese isn't enough. I want to become completely fluent in Chinese, and I've been thinking about finishing my undergrad degree in China. I want to major in pure math and computer science, and I've got pretty good grades so I'd like to go to the best university in China for these majors. Does anybody know what are some of the best unis for these degrees? Also, what would be a good place to go study Chinese pretty intesively for a semester before enrolling in college there? Thanks in advance! Quote
imron Posted July 19, 2008 at 12:51 AM Report Posted July 19, 2008 at 12:51 AM Tsinghua is the best for these majors. In addition to being one of China's most prestigious universities, it's also the second-highest ranked school on TopCoder. Quote
Smafy Posted July 19, 2008 at 02:01 AM Report Posted July 19, 2008 at 02:01 AM Well, several top universities in China are good place to study mathematics and computer science. The No1 is Tsinghua University of course. Tsinghua is top in engineering field and all the other universities is far behind it. In my opinion, there's no No2, because a few excellent universities all argue that they are No2, for example, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and so on. Quote
juggaloskater Posted July 19, 2008 at 02:11 AM Author Report Posted July 19, 2008 at 02:11 AM Thanks a lot, that def. seems like a good option to look into... however I don't like the north that much.. Are there some other good options a bit further south? Quote
juggaloskater Posted July 29, 2008 at 01:33 AM Author Report Posted July 29, 2008 at 01:33 AM Ok.. so I've pretty much set my mind on Tsinghua, thanks for those who replied. Now I need to find a place to study Chinese. My plan would be to study a semester, probably at one of the regular unis like BLCU, or another.. then during the summer take courses that teach specifically stuff that I'll need for my majors. What chinese programs are there around Tsinghua (so I can go ahead and get an apartment for my 2-3 years there) that are fairly good academically speaking? Quote
