Coincidentally, I just found another sentence with 自況. For some reason, it's ALSO about the SK president.

李明博當選南韓總統，台灣的藍綠陣營紛紛表態自況，網自己臉上貼金，幼稚之舉，讓人看了實在好笑。

I have no clue what this entire sentence means. Help!

況 can also mean to compare to, so 自況 equals to 自比.

網 is a typo.

It seems to usually be used in the structure 以...自况. E.g. 他以英雄自况 = to compare oneself to a hero

選前以台灣的李明博自況，勝選後也自認經濟主軸是致勝關鍵。

Having claimed to be the Lee Myung Bak of Taiwan prior to the elections, after winning the elections, he also thinks that the key to his victory was economy.

李明博當選南韓總統，台灣的藍綠陣營紛紛表態自況，往自己臉上貼金，幼稚之舉，讓人看了實在好笑。

Since Lee Myung-bak was elected as president of SK, both the green and blue parties have compared themselves to him. This childish action to enhance their reputation (?), however, only makes them the subject of laughter.
