Don_Horhe Posted July 21, 2008 at 08:49 PM Report Posted July 21, 2008 at 08:49 PM Hi everyone! We're 3 students who're going to China (1 in Xiamen, 2 in Wuhan) on CSC scholarships, but we want to spend a few days in Beijing looking around before we split up. Would anybody know of any cheap student hostels in Beijing, which would hopefully have vacancy between 27-31 August? Or is it too much to ask? Quite a few people told us that Beijing is filled to the brim with people and managing to find cheap accommodation, albeit after the official end of the Olympic Games, is almost impossible. Quote
xuechengfeng Posted July 21, 2008 at 09:21 PM Report Posted July 21, 2008 at 09:21 PM Just go to hostel world and do a search. I did a quick one for you, and it seems like you could find something, but it might not be the best rated hostel and you'll probably have to stay in a dorm with a lot of other people. Quote

imron Posted July 22, 2008 at 02:07 AM Report Posted July 22, 2008 at 02:07 AM I like this hostel: http://www.centralhostel.com/englishindex/eintro.html and have stayed there many times before I actually moved to Beijing. It's not expensive if you stay in the dorms (RMB 60 a night), and the location is excellent. If there are 3 of you, you might even consider booking an entire 4-bed dorm so that you'd essentially have your own room. You can book online, and given the dates that you'll be here, you should probably book as early as possible. Quote
self-taught-mba Posted July 22, 2008 at 03:31 AM Report Posted July 22, 2008 at 03:31 AM Except the one Imron just mentioned just said at that time it is 243 kuai a night. Just called. If anyone is interested in no frills housing in August, stay tuned. Might be able to provide something. Hostelworld lists prices then when you click to the page they have "special Olympic rates" for the dates. Most hostels are at least $30 night during August. Quote
