adamlee Posted July 22, 2008 at 07:02 AM Report Posted July 22, 2008 at 07:02 AM Hi I recently watched a movie called "red cliff" and was wondering if it was true that he boasted this many men such a long time ago. I have read Wikipedia and it says that the actual number should only be around 200,000. Thanks. Quote
Outofin Posted July 22, 2008 at 02:44 PM Report Posted July 22, 2008 at 02:44 PM They are all estimates. I think it could be anywhere between 100K and 200K. Major campaigns of that time should have more than 100K. After the defeat at red cliff, Wei’s force seemed to hold up pretty well. It was still undisputedly strongest among the three. I doubt they lost so many men during that battle. The Romance of Three Kingdom is extremely pro-Shu, and often exaggerates their victories. Quote
