Entropy_Rising Posted July 22, 2008 at 10:41 PM Report Posted July 22, 2008 at 10:41 PM In what way does it not work for you? They're having some problems with whatever software supports the text in the latest version, but I still can log on from America and use the network. Quote
flameproof Posted July 23, 2008 at 01:35 AM Report Posted July 23, 2008 at 01:35 AM Two possibilities: 1. update your Pidgin to the latest version 2. You are behind a firewall I was in the USA recently and had no problem with QQ with the hotel WiFi. Quote
laian Posted July 23, 2008 at 11:20 PM Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 at 11:20 PM Well it is very strange. Im using pidgin for multiple accounts and was not having any problems before leaving China. I did have issues with the 汉字 support for the latest update and rolled back to and older gtk to fix the issue. i have tried using two QQ account one of which i know is expired one which should be good. Oddly the expired one give me a response of "incorrect password". The one that should work says "disconnected unable to login". Any guesses? Quote
Entropy_Rising Posted October 20, 2008 at 09:42 AM Report Posted October 20, 2008 at 09:42 AM Hi, I'm going to pop in here to announce that just yesterday Pidgin released its latest version which also runs on a newer version of GTK. The NULL problem and the problem of Chinese characters not showing up is completely gone - as far as my installation goes. It's so brand spankin' new that they haven't even updated their main page! Come an' get it here straight from source forge. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=235 Quote
Wufnu Posted November 9, 2008 at 02:03 PM Report Posted November 9, 2008 at 02:03 PM I've tried using QQ and Pidgin multiple times. I can look people up, change my settings, etc. but for some reason no one has ever talked with me =/ I wonder if my messages are even getting out. How can I check? Quote
flameproof Posted November 10, 2008 at 09:14 AM Report Posted November 10, 2008 at 09:14 AM The most easy and fastest way to check is to setup a new QQ # and send it to yourself. Pidgin/QQ for me works on Xp and Ubuntu 8.10 - but did not work on 8.04. Also make sure you have Pidgin 2.5.2 . That update fixed some of my issues. in IE you can also use webQQ here: http://webqq.qq.com/ (well, it used to work....) Quote
