skylee Posted July 24, 2008 at 11:14 PM Report Posted July 24, 2008 at 11:14 PM I've heard on the radio that the old Shanghai sports shoes brand is very successful in France. Anyone wearing this brand? It seems that it is not sold in China now. FEIYUE Website (in English and French only) -> http://www.feiyue-shoes.com/ (I like the name of the Er Dang Jia line). imron Posted July 24, 2008 at 11:52 PM Report Posted July 24, 2008 at 11:52 PM I know people who wear these. Although I'm not sure whether they bought the shoes recently or not. The brand is/was quite common in the martial arts community I think. Quote
Meng Lelan Posted July 24, 2008 at 11:54 PM Report Posted July 24, 2008 at 11:54 PM Yes, Feiyue is widely worn in the wushu world. Quote

Don_Horhe Posted July 25, 2008 at 12:12 AM Report Posted July 25, 2008 at 12:12 AM Speaking of shoes, would one have a hard time finding 44-45 size footwear (10-11 US size) in China? Most of my friends told me to stock up on shoes before leaving, telling me it'd be quite hard getting sizes that big. Quote
imron Posted July 25, 2008 at 12:16 AM Report Posted July 25, 2008 at 12:16 AM I'm guessing the people I know who wear them didn't even pay 50 RMB! I can't see anyone in China paying 500 RMB for a pair In Europe however, it's slightly different as you also have to account for transportation costs, higher rent/staff costs for the shoe store etc. It still seems a bit pricey, but at 50 Euros, it's still not an expensive shoe in Europe. imron Posted July 25, 2008 at 12:17 AM Report Posted July 25, 2008 at 12:17 AM I wear size 46 shoes, and although it can sometimes be a problem if a store doesn't have the style you want in the larger size, there will still be plenty of shoes in that size. Quote
BrandeX Posted July 25, 2008 at 08:31 AM Report Posted July 25, 2008 at 08:31 AM I wear size 44's and just went shoe shopping recently, it seems to be one of the more common men's sizes. From general looking around while on buses or subways, it seems chinese have just as big feet as anyone. In fact being only 5'11" and around 160lbs myself, I was surprised to find that many people here are bigger than me, same as in the US, along with size 10 shoes, it seems to be pretty common. Heck even my chinese father in law is 6'1" wears a size 11.5 and seems to have plenty of clothes Quote
hidden12345 Posted July 25, 2008 at 09:27 AM Report Posted July 25, 2008 at 09:27 AM Interestingly enough, I discovered these shoes on a 2004 trip to Henan; I grew up with a family in the arts/fashion and I knew these would be a hit back home. Being more the business-minded one, I went back in 2005, this time Shanghai, went to the factory myself, and negotiated a deal for 400 pairs. I was still in university at the time (these trips were over the summer) and when I returned, I sold the shoes pair by pair at local college campuses, including my own [campus]. Suffice to say, the trip to China paid for itself. I still have quite a few pairs left over, wrapped in original packaging, brand new. If anybody's interested, feel free to PM. Shoe sizes are in European. Quote
Don_Horhe Posted August 1, 2008 at 04:44 PM Report Posted August 1, 2008 at 04:44 PM Didn't you have any trouble getting 400 pairs of shoes out of the country without making anybody suspicious? I mean, wouldn't that many pairs be considered something more than just buying stuff for yourself back home, for which you'd need some sort of export license or something? Quote
hidden12345 Posted August 1, 2008 at 11:59 PM Report Posted August 1, 2008 at 11:59 PM All good questions, with what I hope are equally sufficient answers; however, this is not the place. Quote
imron Posted August 2, 2008 at 12:12 AM Report Posted August 2, 2008 at 12:12 AM Why not? I'm sure there are many people interested, and that it's possible to provide enough information to satisfy people's curiosity without needing to go into detailed specifics. Quote
