Don_Horhe Posted August 1, 2008 at 09:10 PM Report Posted August 1, 2008 at 09:10 PM (edited) Can someone tell me what exactly 这不 means in the following sentences? A: 妈,这几天我不在家,小宝怎么样? B:还那么淘气呗!这不,昨天他在屋子里踢球。。。 The pinyin under the text says it is supposed to be read as zhè bū instead of zhè bù. Also, exactly what role does 呗 play here? Thanks. hidden12345 Posted August 1, 2008 at 10:51 PM Report Posted August 1, 2008 at 10:51 PM think of it like 瞧 or 你看,。。。 呗 is a 句尾词 stressing the obviousness of something. It sounds cute when girls say it, but when guys say it, it sounds very 娘娘腔 Quote
Annaliu Posted August 3, 2008 at 02:50 PM Report Posted August 3, 2008 at 02:50 PM 这不 zhè bu, here 不 should bleat 轻声 This word has no hypostatic meaning, only emphasize tone. Your opinion + 这不+ argument/example Such as: 他学习好,这不,又考了100分。 His study is good, this exam he got full mark. In this sentence, 他学习好 is your viewpoint, 又考了100分 is an example to explain this point. 呗 is only a modal auxiliary word, in the end of sentence, express emphasizing. Quote
