Peter_Salinas Posted August 5, 2008 at 04:33 PM Report Posted August 5, 2008 at 04:33 PM Hello, im sorry to intrude on the community, however im in need of some information that seems to be escaping me. I write business plans and have recently acquired several international clients and need some census informtation on chinas populaction tiers. Is there a site or a service I can contact that will show a greater breakdown of age, location, education, growth rate of china or even certain industry growths? Again, im very sorry to intrude, but I figure who would know better then they chinese community. Kindest Regards, Peter Salinas Quote
gougou Posted August 6, 2008 at 09:29 AM Report Posted August 6, 2008 at 09:29 AM We use this provider at work - www.chinayearbook.com. They're very helpful on the phone to help you find exactly what you need. Of course, their website and phone service are completely in Chinese, but you wouldn't go writing business plans about a country whose people you don't even understand anyway, would you? Quote
Peter_Salinas Posted August 6, 2008 at 03:59 PM Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 at 03:59 PM well, my Chinese is scattered at best, Currently im doing the reports for american based companies working over international contacts with their overseas bases. Rincewind Posted August 7, 2008 at 12:00 AM Report Posted August 7, 2008 at 12:00 AM Sites such as the CIA factbook have a reasonable breakdown for the whole country. I have some books such as "China 2006" by Beijing foreign Languages Pres or "The outline of China" by Oceanpress which largely just copy the yearbook mentioned above but with different commentary. For more localised information, each province and even most prefectures or cities, will have a statistics department with a web site giving breakdowns of their locality. However, expect it to be almost all in Chinese. I find google's translator suitable for the job. Though not perfect translations, it will let you find the numbers you need. Quote
simonlaing Posted August 11, 2008 at 01:48 AM Report Posted August 11, 2008 at 01:48 AM If you're looking for it on the country scale the UN has stats on china, Things like primary and secondary education, percentage of households with TVs, % with computer and internet access. I forget the exact accornym, something like UN info, or population . Could be helpful. Good luck, SimoN:) Quote
Rebecca Weiner Posted August 11, 2008 at 05:54 PM Report Posted August 11, 2008 at 05:54 PM Hi-- There's a very good, though slightly dated, study by the IBM global business strategy team on China's market tiers, available at: http://www-935.ibm.com/services/us/gbs/bus/pdf/g510-6578-01-chinamassmkt.pdf. There are excellent maps & other data starting on pp. 7-8. You will of course want to credit the IBM research. Best luck. Quote
