Long term accomodation in Haikou

Hi everybody,

I will move to Haikou next month and will stay there some thing like 1 year. I'm looking for an appartment who is around 1000 RMB by month. Any advise or websites?

I'm in a similar situation (but in a different province) and just want to add a question to any future readers of this post, specifically, does anyone know of a website that provides housing classifieds, but for more obscure places (like Haikou) as opposed to the more standard places like Beijing?

There are plenty of them, but typically they are in Chinese. See for example zhantai, soufun and sofang.

You'll need to be able to read and speak Chinese though, as all the ads are in Chinese. I rented something off of those listings before. You'll want to be in Haikou when you look though, since listings change all the time.

Some people will try to scam you and make you pay 100RMB just to see a place, don't do that.

Which part of Haikou will you be in? Haikou is pretty large, so you'll want to choose something in the right part of the right district. For example, Hainan University is on 海甸岛，in 美兰区. 美兰区also includes the airport though, which is over 2 hours away by city bus from 海甸岛.

You should be able to get a decent apartment for that here in Haikou, but like the others said, you need to be here to look, things go fast. Also like someone mentioned, you need to know exactly what area you are going to be in before looking for an apartment. Haikou is considered small by Chinese standards but it is pretty large.

My rent is more than that but I am on Haidian Island in the newer "suburbs".

What are you doing in Haikou? If work or school they will help you arrange the apartment.
