Chinese Font or OS help?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I use an American version of Windows 98. I am trying to run a program (not an MS Office program) that is designed for the Traditional Chinese editions of Windows 95/98. I installed the NJStar Communicator in an attempt to create an appropriate background on which to run the program. However, while some of the program's fonts are correctly displayed using the Communicator, others appear very grainy and are either barely legible or completely illegible.

Does anybody know whether I can simply install a fuller set of standard Chinese fonts (i.e., the set that comes with a Chinese version of Windows) in order to remedy this problem? If so, is there any website from which one could download such a set of fonts within the USA?

Another solution that seems plausible is installing a parallel version of Windows 98 in Traditional Chinese using System Commander or a similar operating system splicer. This approach seems a bit drastic, though, and since I only have a 10 GB hard drive, it isn't the most practical solution in my case.

Can anybody who is savvy with converting between the Chinese and English Windows 98 OS or with installing Chinese fonts lend me their advice?

Thanks!

David

I'm running windows 98 too, and am trying to figure out similar problems at the moment....

Did you try installing NJStar CJK Viewer? That gave me some pretty clean looking characters in Winamp.

I'm just trying to find some more fonts at the moment to see if I can get nicer looking characters in my browser. Sorry I can't be of much help.
