卖淫 vs 无名指??

I'm reading something from a book published in Taiwan: A bunch of female prisoners were talking about who would hold off masturbation the longest. One of them says there is no way anybody can tell since you'd do it only when no one is around. Another female prisoner then says:

如果我说。。。 左手无名指的指关节，能够证明呢？

妳是卖淫被抓进来的吧？因为妳的无名指专业得很。

只要仔细观察，就能看出留在肉体上的证据.

At this point, everyone seems astonished at how clever this person is.

I have no idea what ring finger's joint has to do with prostitution. Why ring finger and not, say, index finger? Maybe it's because I'm a male. Any thought? Am I missing something here?

Isn't she saying that if you've been engaging in prostitution, evidence remains on your body. Similarly, if you've been masturbating, evidence remains on the middle finger?

"You are caught because you were a prostitute, aren't you? I know because your ring finger is quite specialized."

Is this translation correct? What does it supposed to mean?

据我看,好像这两个词之间没有什么联系,无名指也可能在特定的地方具有特定的含义,背不住在什么地方就和卖淫有着千丝万缕的联系,呵呵,谁知道呢?也许就像你说的,you are not a female, 但是要我说,这些还不够,我们不知道这其中的奥妙,because we are not prostitutes.也许这么说有点过分,不过在讨论这样的问题的时候我想这么说还是合适的.
