kane0 Posted August 28, 2008 at 02:34 AM Author Report Posted August 28, 2008 at 02:34 AM The other blog has not left me with an answer for quite some time, so I thought I would ask again in a new thread (sorry for the confusion). Again, all suggestions/comments are welcome on a family name for 'river' or 'estuary' that sounds good with Kai En 凱恩. Thank you. Quote
studentyoung Posted August 28, 2008 at 07:02 AM Report Posted August 28, 2008 at 07:02 AM Is there a family name for 'river' or 'estuary' that sounds good with the given name (first name) Kai En 凱恩? How about 江凯恩? 江 means river, but it can also be a family name. Cheers! Quote
imron Posted August 28, 2008 at 07:37 AM Report Posted August 28, 2008 at 07:37 AM Merged with the previous thread. You'll probably find most of the answers exactly the same as the ones provided in this thread, e.g. 江, which was already suggested by skylee earlier on. Quote
kane0 Posted August 29, 2008 at 12:13 AM Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 at 12:13 AM I guess it has narrowed down to these choices. I will leave it to your experience as to what sounds and looks best: 1) 川凱恩 2) 古司農凱恩 (Could anyone translate this?) 3) 何凱恩 (Could anyone translate this?) 4) 江凱恩 Thank you all very much again. Quote
Lu Posted August 29, 2008 at 04:10 PM Report Posted August 29, 2008 at 04:10 PM - 川凱恩 川 seems to be a rather rare surname, I've never heard of anyone with this name (cue someone posting to tell the family next door is surnamed 川, but still, it's rather rare) - 古司農凱恩 If you want this name, you take just the 古司農, with 古 as your surname and 司農 as given name. Otherwise it's much too long. - 何凱恩 He is the surname, Kai'en the given name. You usually can't translate names. I guess 何 he2 is picked because it sounds just like 河 he2 river. - 江凱恩 Jiang as surname, Kai'en as given name. 江 jiang1 means river. Quote
kane0 Posted September 1, 2008 at 04:45 AM Author Report Posted September 1, 2008 at 04:45 AM I think 川凱恩 looks and sounds the best to me. If anybody thinks there is anything wrong with using the name in Beijing, please let me know. As always, many thanks for your comments and suggestions. Quote
