Nanning Info Please

Hi all, just completed my move to Baise, small town lacking in a few things......coffee,

cheese, butter......

anyway, Nanning is only 2.5 hours by train and/or bus, so i suppose a monthly

overnight trip for needed vittles or just to escape may be in order. will be doing some

net research first, probably a trip next week.

so far, i'm aware of at least two wally worlds in nanning, as well as a small western

food store (the pantry). how about metro or carrefour?

Anyone spent time here and can recommend a hospital? or any advice, really.....

You should just head down to Liuzhou. They've apparently got all those there

Indeed we do. However, he'd have to pass through Nanning to get here from Baise.

The Pantry is good. Walmart doesn't have much in the way of western food.

I've heard good things about the hospital attached to Guangxi Medical University - The First Affiliated Hospital (第一附属医院). It's at 6 Shuangyong Road (双拥路). It is supposedly the best in Guangxi.

We've got hospitals in Liuzhou, too!

Nanning has a hospital just a few blocks from the train station,and there is a WalMart

food store about twenty minutes on the bus,or longer,as the streets are very congested

and the buses do not pass each other.The people do not give you room when you are

walking in the bicycle lanes,and small streets.Everybody is in a hurry. Be careful.

thanks for the info. stopped by the hospital early morning here, just concerned about

some recent heart palpitations. woke the doctor and tried to have an ekg done.

clamps at wrist and ankles, no problem, but the little suction cup leads wouldn't

work with chest hair. well, doc, how 'bout you take a listen with yer stethyscope.

umm, we don't have one, sorry. med supply store across the street gots em for

19 rmb. will take my own next time, maybe donate one to the menzhen.

Nanning, like most cities, has a hospital a few blocks from almost anywhere. 90% of advertisements on bus stops, buses, street signs are for hospitals. It doesn't mean they are good! They are after the cash!

I can think of several brothels within blocks of Nanning station. So?
