No more vertical writing?

This happened a month ago but I didn't see much discussion about it. How do people feel about Taiwan's decision to switch to fully horizontal left-to-right writing for official documents instead of the traditional vertical top-to-bottom? I guess it really doesn't matter too much since it doesn't change the understanding of the writing and from a pragmatic standpoint is probably beneficial, though it's kind of sad to see another aspect of Chinese culture start to disappear.

Many books printed in Taiwan and Hongkong still use vertical printing. Don't worry too much.
