An overlooked construction: complements with 个

Recommended Posts

Posted

Whatever grammar book you look in, you will find no mention of complements using 个 and not 得, although this is a part of Chinese grammar. There is a very useful PDF on this from a Taiwanese university at http://www.ling.sinica.edu.tw/eip/FILES/journal/2007.3.9.89451234.6382483.pdf

I mean things like:

看个明白

说个没完

I haven't got time to summarize the findings of that PDF, but the link should be all you need, as the file is in English.
