imron Posted August 30, 2008 at 02:53 AM Report Posted August 30, 2008 at 02:53 AM Came across a collection of old Chinese propaganda cartoons from the late 50's, and just thought others might be interested in having a look: http://www.ep.tc/chinese-comics/index.html Quote
self-taught-mba Posted August 31, 2008 at 10:35 AM Report Posted August 31, 2008 at 10:35 AM Very interesting. Money seems to be equated with evil. Contrast that to today's China. Also love the US/Nazi connection. They didn't mind the Nazis when they were saving them from rape and slaughter in Nanjing. Quote

chenpv Posted August 31, 2008 at 11:57 AM Report Posted August 31, 2008 at 11:57 AM Nice collection with horrible English illustrative tittles. Very few are faithful to the original Chinese characters appeared on the cartoons. Quote
zhwj Posted August 31, 2008 at 01:00 PM Report Posted August 31, 2008 at 01:00 PM #13, 14, and 34 are translations of European political cartoons. This is a practice that Chinese papers continue to this day. I don't remember ever seeing foreign cartoons in US newspapers growing up, but I find I kind of like seeing different styles and different ways of looking at issues. More old cartoons Quote
