imagine Posted September 5, 2008 at 07:21 AM Report Posted September 5, 2008 at 07:21 AM hi all, I begun studying Chinese in 2005. Studied the PCR 1. Now after several years I've started all over with NPCR 1. I have the text and workbook and the CD's but what I am really missing here is the stroke orders! These books does not give the stroke orders for the characters used in the text. Ok, there are few examples but not for all the characters. I would really like to see, on paper or on screen, how to write the characters correctly. Does anyone know any resourse where to find the stroke orders for the caracters used in NPCR 1? Thanks for your inputs! Quote
renzhe Posted September 5, 2008 at 09:55 AM Report Posted September 5, 2008 at 09:55 AM The NPCR teaches you the stroke order for the commonly used components, and once you've learned those, you can compose more complex characters from those. Very few books will keep showing the stroke order for every single character they introduce. For the pesky characters you can't figure out, there are some online sites for stroke order, look at the previous threads: http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/2-favourite-chinese-musician157&highlight=stroke+order http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/7188-stroke-order&highlight=stroke+order http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/71-interesting-websites78&highlight=stroke+order http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/110-hsk-sample-papers48&highlight=stroke+order http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/1843-how-to-say-happy-birthday-in-different-languages3&highlight=stroke+order http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/12096-good-stroke-order-sites&highlight=stroke+order Quote
imagine Posted September 5, 2008 at 10:43 AM Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 at 10:43 AM Thanks Renzhe for your input. In the meanwhile I found a page which might also serve other beginners. It has animated stroke orders for characters: http://www.usc.edu/dept/ealc/chinese/character/alpha/index.htm Quote
johnmck Posted September 5, 2008 at 02:12 PM Report Posted September 5, 2008 at 02:12 PM Download DimSum (freeware) from www.mandarintools.com I cannot believe you are trying to learn Chinese without it! Quote
A life of study Posted September 6, 2008 at 02:38 PM Report Posted September 6, 2008 at 02:38 PM There is a stroke order dictionary you can buy. The Wenlin software gives stroke order for 60,000 characters. Quote
