randydandy Posted September 8, 2008 at 07:37 AM Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 07:37 AM (edited) I cant find any near my place. I'm staying in Suzhou Jie. Where can I find a supermarket/hypermarket nearby? looking forward to your replies Edited September 8, 2008 at 12:25 PM by randydandy Quote
roddy Posted September 8, 2008 at 07:48 AM Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 07:48 AM Closest one I can definitely give you a location for is the Carrefour at 白石桥 and Walmart at 知春路. There could well be closer ones. map.baidu.com for directions. Quote

roddy Posted September 8, 2008 at 09:05 AM Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 09:05 AM Congratulations on arriving in Beijing. Now turn off the Internet, go outside, and have an adventure. (it's near the zoo) Quote
imron Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:01 PM Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:01 PM The Walmart at 知春路, is located at the exit of the 知春路 subway station. Considering 知春路 is on the same line as Suzhou St, that's probably your best bet. Quote
randydandy Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:24 PM Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:24 PM imron, are you familiar if there are any smaller supermarkets in Suzhou Jie area? Quote
imron Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:40 PM Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 12:40 PM Sorry, absolutely no idea. I live on the opposite side of town. I only know about the Walmart because I've seen it when I've taken the subway to 知春路. Quote
adrianlondon Posted September 8, 2008 at 01:12 PM Report Posted September 8, 2008 at 01:12 PM any smaller supermarkets in Suzhou Jie area? If you're going to be in Beijing more than a few weeks I really recommend buying a bike. The weather (at least it was back in 2006) was fantastic in September, October and November. In fact, I cycled my whole semester - even though it got cold in January, it was only cold. It was never cold and windy, or cold and wet. You can cycle around, exploring every nook and cranny where you live. You'll discover all the small supermarkets and also loads of little food stalls (assuming they come back after their Olympic ban). Much more fun discovering these things yourself. Of course, for the bigger ones, you might as well ask here or search the net. When I lived around BNU, I'd use the Carrefour near the Zoo. That took 15 minutes to cycle to and around 20 to cycle back (as I had carrier bags hanging off the handlebars). Quote
