temporarily leaving China on F visa - is it OK?

I'd like to visit Singapore or South Korea from China mainland during my study period in China.

Has anyone ever left China on a double entrance F visa for a short trip abroad? Did you have any problems returning to the mainland? Also, is it possible to extend an F visa abroad, e.g. in Singapore?

Shortly: is it ok to leave China temporarily in-between the two semesters? I wouldn't want to have any problems on my return to school. I'd really appreciate any advice on the subject! Thanks in advance :)

As long as you have another valid entry on your visa, you'll be fine. Extension in Singapore probably isn't possible, but you may be able to get a new, longer lasting visa - depends on current policy, what documentation you have, etc.
