HeDiWen何迪文 Posted September 15, 2008 at 12:24 AM Report Posted September 15, 2008 at 12:24 AM How do I translate this sentence. "To be honest, everyone says our resteraunts food is bad." What I'm most concerned about is the translation and grammar usage of "to be honest"/"honestly". Thanks in advance! Quote
transient Posted September 15, 2008 at 02:14 AM Report Posted September 15, 2008 at 02:14 AM Hi, I would go: 老實說, 大家都說我們餐廳的菜不好吃. Or, 說真的, 大家都說我們餐廳的菜很難吃. Or, 其實, 大家都說我們餐廳的菜不可口. To be honest/ honestly can be translated as above. Quote
FadedStardust Posted September 15, 2008 at 05:16 AM Report Posted September 15, 2008 at 05:16 AM You could say something like: “说真的,人们都说我们家菜馆煮的菜都很难吃。” (Shuo1 zhen1de, ren2men dou1 shuo1 wo3men jia1 cai4guan3 zhu3de cai4 dou1 hen3 nan2chi1). 说真的 is a very common way of saying "to be honest" or "honestly."
