stephanhodges Posted September 15, 2008 at 02:37 AM Report Share Posted September 15, 2008 at 02:37 AM I have set up a wiki for a Chinese person. However, because they want to have international exposure, I've advised them to use Unicode for text on their pages, etc. However, they are using a Chinese OS (XP in one case), and I am not sure how to instruct them on inputing (guaranteeing) Unicode on the web pages. I did a search (on the title of this thread), but came up with nothing. I admit I only spent a minute or so on searching and browsing. Also, I don't recall this topic from before, so sorry if I've repeated something obvious to many.
trevelyan Posted September 15, 2008 at 06:16 AM Report Share Posted September 15, 2008 at 06:16 AM Stephen, They need to set the default character set option in Apache. May also need to specify the encoding in the header or put it in a meta tag. http://www.w3.org/International/O-HTTP-charset cheers, --david
roddy Posted September 15, 2008 at 07:46 AM Report Share Posted September 15, 2008 at 07:46 AM Assuming (as it's a wiki) all input is going via the web (ie online admin panels rather than direct uploading of files or a database) then just having the character set declared in the header ( ) should be enough.
