Ratlike Posted September 17, 2008 at 10:47 AM Report Posted September 17, 2008 at 10:47 AM Hello everyone , I will be moving to Hong Kong on the 1st October, planning to stay until the beginning of January 2009. My first concern is about accomodation. I ve heard about some serviced apartment that usually expats rent, but they look quite expensive and my budget stays between 2000/3500 HK$. Im not very picky I just need the internet, possibly hot water and a heating system. I tend not to trust real estates, but I dont think I ll have many other options...I ll be working in HK Central, Wyndham Street. Any suggestion/forum/websites? Thank you Quote
Yang Rui Posted September 18, 2008 at 10:25 AM Report Posted September 18, 2008 at 10:25 AM I think you will have real problems finding somewhere for between 2000 and 3500 HKD. I don't really have any suggestions, but you could try asking your question at the forum on Geoexpat.com if you haven't already. There are more HK experts on that forum than here. Your best bet will probably be to find someone with a spare room in their flat that they don't mind renting out for a few months. Quote

flameproof Posted September 22, 2008 at 06:17 AM Report Posted September 22, 2008 at 06:17 AM Your budget is quite low. Yes, have a look at geoexpat. With your budget and work location I suggest stay on Lamma Island http://www.lamma.com.hk/forum/viewforum.php?f=41&sid=0078b2c8d9b34d4a8472046db17bcffb In any case, it's better to come here first and really check places that people offer you. Otherwise you may end up in a place most rats would avoid. Quote
GBodyShop Posted September 27, 2008 at 03:01 AM Report Posted September 27, 2008 at 03:01 AM If you can. Not sure but you can try to get a multi entry visa for Mainland China and, maybe stay Shenzhen. This is the very first city inland just north west of Hong Kong. I am not sure if you can do this. Is just a food for thought. Good Luck Jose Luis Quote
