Among all ancient poems that have long been a major source for modern idiom, I believe 長恨歌 (Ode to eternal grief), written by 白居易 (BC772--846, Tang Dynasty), is the most influential single piece of poem that still inspires writers, scholars and advertising creative directors and composers today.

漢皇重色思傾國， 禦宇多年求不得。

楊家有女初長成， 養在深閨人未識。

天生麗質難自棄， 一朝選在君王側。

I was reading Tang poems casually last night and came across 清平調written by 李白 (he was the contemporary of 楊貴妃, and actaully was the court writer then). The beginning of the first verse is still very much in use nowadays -

"雲想衣裳花想容，春風拂檻露華濃"
