ABCinChina Posted October 1, 2008 at 03:32 AM Report Share Posted October 1, 2008 at 03:32 AM I don't think there's any English tutorials but by default you will be typing simplified Chinese. You can go into the settings by clicking on the tool icon and looking for the selection with the (P) next to it. After clicking it, then press the "高级" tab and choose either 简体 (Simplified) or 繁体 (Traditional) for the default. You can also quickly change Traditional/Simplified by clicking on the tool icon and the find the "快速切换(K)" button and click either (J) for simplified or (F) for traditional. Just remember that Shift switches from English to Chinese Input and becareful not to press Shift + Spacebar, or it will go into full character width. ABCinChina Posted October 1, 2008 at 04:28 PM Report Share Posted October 1, 2008 at 04:28 PM That's when you click the "设置向导(X)" tab which means "settings guide". It just automatically sets your preferences based of what you like. I just leave this alone as it's of no use. But the last box you got to lets you create a username and password. This way you can have the same settings on two different computers. For example, you may have your settings set a certain way or have a lot of custom words that you've created and want them synchronized between two computers. That's when you would use this function. For a start, I'd only worry about the "设置属性(P)" button because that's where all the options are. In there, you can change your skins, update the dictionaries, or enter custom words. For instance, you can set "heart" to equal "♡". This way, whenever you type heart, you'll get ♡ as your first choice or whatever number you wish it to appear.
