Watch Chinese TV with us!

Over there in the First Episode Forum, we've thought about watching a whole Chinese series together. It can be watched online, and if several of us watch together, we can help each other out with difficult parts.

In short, a couple of us want to start watching 奋斗 (Struggle), a popular series set in Beijing. It's interesting, it's good, and it's not too difficult language-wise.

Everybody is welcome to join, regardless of the skill level. Just register, say "hi" in this thread, and we'll start watching soon. See also this post for more information.

There is a summary, a transcript and a vocabulary list with all the difficult words for the first episode, so we can take it from there, and tackle the next couple of episodes next.

Everyone who wants to combine learning Chinese with some genuine Chinese materials, let's go! Together, it will be easier.

There are 32 episodes, so it's on the short side when it comes to TV series.

I haven't seen all of it, but the few episodes I have seen are of a similar quality.

Several people, including muyongshi, imron, roddy and others feel like it's a decent show worth watching, and it was really popular in 2006, so we can't really go wrong too badly.

Welcome along!

A reminder that both the first and the second episode of 奋斗 are now completely annotated, with plot explanations, and a vocabulary list of all the tricky/difficult words.

You can still join us in here and watch the first episode. We are watching the second episode on the weekend, so you can ask about anything that wasn't clear.

A reminder that the third episode is scheduled for this weekend, and we have the full vocabulary lists (with translations) for the first three episodes, plus summaries, discussions and explanations.

This is a great time to get involved. Get in here and start learning Chinese by watching TV shows!

Just a quick reminder that we are on the 5th episode, and have summaries, complete vocabulary lists (with translations) and explanations of complicated conversations for all 5 episodes available in the thread.

There are several people actively watching, including a native speaker, and the discussions are proving helpful. It's a good time to try watching some Chinese television, as there are very few opportunities like this one.

You can join the fun in here.
