大喘气 means “pant”, “puff” in most cases, but in “说话别大喘气” it means something else.

We use “说话大喘气” to describe someone who expresses just half meaning in when he is speaking, as if he was out of breath. It makes his words sound odd or scaring. Sometime, it causes listeners to puff or pant too. I’ll show you an example.

On the line, the boy said in a low voice, “Mum, I got a medical report of my last week physical checkup. …. (Silence for a while.) ” His mother became so worry, and even might be panting in her heart. And then, the boy continued, “It seems … that … my body … is in… perfect conditions.”

At this time, his mother might want to say, "说话别大喘气!"

Cheers!
