skylee Posted June 22, 2004 at 12:16 AM Report Posted June 22, 2004 at 12:16 AM I was there last month. It was not the best season (which should be autumn when there is plenty of water and the leaves are turning yellow and red), but the place was pretty enough. Late spring/early summer meant that all the trees were green (so nothing like those postcard pictures). Water level was relatively low but the weather was fine. The most beautiful pond I saw was 五色海 which despite the low water level was dazzling with bright green and blue. The real diappointment was the nearby Huang Long 黃龍, which was said to be somthing like or better than Pamukkale in Turkey. But obviously May was not a good season because most of the "ponds" (haizi 海子) were dry. (Pamukkale is much prettier IMHO.) But I guess if the season is right it should be a good place to visit. I flew to the new Jiuzhai-Huanglong airport from Chengdu and it was quite convenient. BTW, Turkey is a fine country. Quote
Disenchant Posted June 22, 2004 at 04:04 PM Report Posted June 22, 2004 at 04:04 PM I went around this time three years ago. Lots of fun, but you can expect lots of people going during the summer. Not a problem unless you plan to take a lot of pictures of yourself. Quote
